Our Founder,
Sandy Mitchell

Rainger & Co &emdash; Who

Sandy brings a unique breadth of high-level experience
to Rainger & Co. The Financial Times How to Spend It magazine describes him as ‘the man with the unrivalled contacts’.

He founded the RedBook Agency and grew it in the UK and internationally, before selling the firm successfully in 2024. He and his colleagues advised design practices and clients on over 350 significant projects, including some of England’s finest new private homes, redecorations of super-prime properties at home and abroad, and the giant NEOM project in Saudi Arabia.

After reading law at Oxford University, Sandy qualified as a barrister and worked as a corporate financier on multi-million pound deals in the City and Frankfurt before pursuing a long career as a senior editor and writer on national magazines and newspapers including The Telegraph and National Geographic, as well as presenting on TV and BBC Radio 4.

Our Name

The name carries a personal story, Rainger is Sandy’s middle name, celebrating his great-grandmother.

Widowed young with six daughters in early 20th-century New Zealand, she turned for her family’s survival to developing a series of exquisite homes in Auckland that now rank among the city’s most admired historic properties.

Creativity, resilience and ambition are the qualities that fired the success of Sandy’s forbear, and the ones that Rainger & Co. hopes to support in its clients.
